The Holtec Technology Campus (HTC) was developed by HTC, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Holtec International. The campus occupies approximately 50 acres along the left bank of the Delaware River in south Camden, on the former site of the historic New York Shipyard.
The Ben Franklin Bridge frames the site to the North, the Walt Whitman Bridge to the south, and the Philadelphia center city skyline to the west.
The campus consists of two large manufacturing plants, a seven-story corporate engineering center, a system test facility (without nuclear fuel), and supports facilities, including a training center, a non-destructive testing laboratory, and corporate apartments.
As part of this project, four high-pressure and intermediate-pressure steam turbine inner shell sections, each weighing approximately 125,000 pounds, were plasma cut into smaller sections suitable for over-the-road transport without special permits. Each section was reduced to approximately 34,000 pounds, then loaded onto trucks and shipped to a salvage facility.
