Location
Owner
With construction of Borgata’s North Casino Expansion in full swing, Joseph Jingoli and Son, Inc. (JJS) was awarded the contract to perform site work for the North Tower Project. The site was located between the ongoing casino expansion project and the main entrance of the existing hotel and casino. The contract included the installation of a design build H-pile and lagging retaining wall. The wall was over 300 feet long and 15 feet tall. JJS was responsible for the installation of the retaining wall with no impact to the main entrance road, located less than 5’ behind the wall. In addition, JJS installed over 200 feet of 12-inch diameter deep sanitary sewer. Once the retaining wall was installed and the mass excavation was completed, JJS installed the 12-inch diameter sanitary line 12-feet deep and less than 10-feet away from the bottom of the retaining wall. JJS was also responsible for the installation of a 135,000 square-foot parking lot, entrance road, exit road, signage, striping, lighting, security cameras, and two parking fee collection booths. The entrance road serviced the new parking lot area as well the main entrance to the new casino area.
In addition to grading and paving the main entrance, JJS installed an architectural concrete stairway, landscape lighting, and site lighting. JJS also installed over 1,000 feet of 8-inch diameter ductile iron waterline, as well as miscellaneous sizes of storm drainage lines and pre-cast concrete structures. All on-site excavations were done in an existing landfill. Therefore, all spoils were separated and the stockpiles had to be maintained in accordance with DEP regulations. Jingoli was also asked to mobilize a water treatment plant to process all dewatering discharge created during construction. JJS mobilized and set-up the plant, piping, and excavated two settling ponds for the
treated discharge.
