BRUCE POWER CONSTRUCTION SERVICES

Joseph Jingoli & Son, Inc. through its’ subsidiary, Jingoli Canada, has entered into a joint venture with two Canadian firms, Comstock and E.S. Fox to form the venture CFJ Nuclear Contractors LTD.

CFJ will provide program and project management. To include broker labour services, management contract work, and preconstruction services for the Bruce A Restart Program.

BRUCE A UNIT 3 & 4 TURBINE UPGRADES

These projects consisted of planned outages in Bruce A Units 3 & 4 to upgrade two Turbine Rotor Sets consisting of one high pressure (HP) and three low pressure (LP) modules each, and the associated condenser modifications. The new LP turbines were designed to improve the existing unit availability and performance while addressing life‑limiting issues to reduce erosion of turbine stationary parts, and increase recommended maintenance intervals. Unit 4 was completed on schedule and under budget. Unit 3 is in the planning stage.

The major work of the projects consisted of acceptance of the new 360,000 lb. rotors and transporting to the designated Unit, disassembly of the HP & 3 LP modules to the half joints, cutting of all steam lines, removal of the inner casings and existing rotors, modifications to increase steam flow, reassembly of the units with new rotors, refurbishment of the bearings and related hardware, and radiological testing, decontamination, and removal of the scrap.

Unit 4 was successfully completed on time.

BRUCE A RESTART REACTOR VAULT MODIFICATIONS

Our personnel planned and managed projects for Bruce Power in the reactor vaults of Units 1 & 2 during the Bruce A Restart. These projects were on the Critical Path immediately after reactor refueling, and were conducted around the clock in a Zone 3 Radiological Area using 3 hour work crew jumps to minimize time of exposure.

The projects consisted of reversal of temporary modifications on the east and west reactor faces made during the retube of the Unit 1 and Unit 2 Calandrias, modification of the fueling machine bridge Y-drive, disconnection and removal of the temporary power supplies, disconnection and removal of the fueling machine bridge Y-Drive modifications, installation of the X and Y-Drive power supplies, limit switches & panels, modifications to the service and breathing air systems, removal of the vault bulkhead, removal of the working platform at the reactor face, performing an extensive rebuild and reinstallation of the reactor area bridge and carriage, execution of the vault pressure test, and decontamination & storage of all removed components.
