CICELY TYSON SCHOOL FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

Cicely Tyson Demonstration School for the Performing Arts is located in downtown East Orange on a 12-acre campus for 1,200 students ranging from pre-k to 12th-grade students.

The school was designed as three schools; an elementary school, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and first to fourth grade: 80,948 Square Feet facility, a Middle and High School for fifth to twelfth grade: 173,021 Square Feet facility, and a Performing Arts Center: 30,616 Square Feet Facility.

The school has two auditoriums, an 800-seat Performing Arts Theater with lighting and sound equipment, and a 400-seat Auditorium.

This project was a part of the revitalization of the City of East Orange Lower Main Street Redevelopment Program Plan area.
