The Ric and Jean Edelman Fossil Park project included the development of a 65-acre site for a new Educational and Research Facility. The site featured a former open-pit marl mine, one of the last remaining on the East Coast. As the only fossil site of its kind within a major metropolitan area, the Fossil Park provided an opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy an authentic, hands-on exploration of the subject matter.

The project included an approximately 36,000-square-foot museum/visitor center for citizen science and discovery-based learning. The building was designed as a two-story facility, and its programmatic elements included exhibition halls, displays, event spaces, a theater, teaching spaces, and associated support areas. The project site also included educational walking paths, an amphitheater, pedestrian bridges, parking areas, support buildings, and restroom facilities.
