READING TERMINAL MARKET FILBERT STREET TRANSFORMATION

The Filbert Street Transformation was a $1.5 million dollar project that provided the Reading Terminal Market and The City of Philadelphia with a curb-less, multi-purpose street that will allow for outdoor seating, dining, and a large area that can be instantly transformed into a complete outdoor venue when the “Coffin” Bollards are retracted and Filbert Street is closed to traffic.
The project consisted of integrally colored concrete, thermoplastic coated asphalt, along with coffin and removable bollards. Additionally, the ADA ramps on the South and North footways at 12th Street were redesigned and the sidewalks in the North footway along the Reading Terminal Market were expanded to provide an additional eight feet of walking/furniture staging for events.
