Owner

DBOOM

Project Size

3.3 Million Square Feet

The Inlet District Energy Center is located on a site leased from Revel Entertainment Group and is adjacent to Revel’s Entertainment Complex located in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The project provides for the heating, cooling, electric power, and backup emergency power of the needs of the entertainment complex as well as Inlet area customers.

Hot and chilled water generated at the energy center travels via an underground piping distribution system to the entertainment complex, where it is routed to four independent energy transfer stations. Three independent electric power feeders from the local utility routed to serve both the energy center and entertainment complex. Emergency / standby power generated from diesel generators within the energy center are interconnected via paralleling switchgear to serve both the energy center and entertainment complex life safety and business critical power needs. An integrated digital control system provides for optimal plant operational efficiencies.

The plant is designed to have an ultimate capacity of 15,000 tons of cooling, 160,000 MMBtu of hot water production, and 7.5 MW of emergency power generation. It will serve power to the 3.3 million square feet hotel and entertainment complex which includes 1,900 hotel rooms, 12 restaurants, and 6 pools.

The Inlet District Energy Center is adjacent to the Revel Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The center provides for the heating, cooling, and electric power demands of the Hotel & Casino. Both the hot and chilled water generated travels via an underground piping distribution system. Independent electric power feeders from the local utility are routed via the underground duct bank network to service the Energy Center and the Hotel & Casino.

The project’s design/build consisted of installing an Underground Thermal and Electrical Distribution system to site preparation and excavation for all the structural footings, foundations, and electrical dusk banks are associated with the Energy Center and Hotel/Casino. The project also included the installation of a new portion of 20” diameter water main and all underground plumbing associated within the energy center.

The distribution energy system included:

  • 250 TF of 36” Chilled Water Supply and Return Self-Restrained Piping
  • 250 TF of 24” Perma-Pipe Multi-Therm 500 Hot Water Supply and Return Piping
  • 350 TF of Primary Electrical Duct Bank System
  • 350 TF of Secondary Electrical Duct Bank System
  • (2) 10’x12’ Electric Manholes
  • (1) 8’x 12’ Electric Manhole
