NEWARK SWITCH REBUILD
Location
JINGOLI, along with its joint venture partner, are responsible for all demolition, civil work, sheet piling, poured in place foundations, structural steel, architectural precast building and enclosure wall panels to build a new Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Building for PSE&G in the heart of Newark, NJ.
Foundations required deep excavations and drilled shafts. Extensive underground ductbanks and manholes for the new 13kV and 26kV distribution services, along with a new main 345kV transformer, generator and ancillary foundations, containment and bus supports, were all planned, managed and installed under JINGOLIʼs management. Existing utility relocations were required along with all new utilities for the GIS building and site, including storm, sewer, water, natural gas, high and low voltage electric, lighting and control, and parking lot installations.
Under the EPC portion of the project, JINGOLI and its partner were responsible to Engineer, Procure and Construction the new 2-story 200,000 SF GIS Building, high-voltage equipment control room, the new 345kV/138kV/26kV transformer and reactor bays, and the perimeter enclosure wall to support the Newark Switch Rebuild (NSR) project. This included all structural steel installation and architectural precast panel erection, elevated slab on deck work, complete building fit out of HVAC, plumbing, lighting, fire detection/protection, telephone/communication, and electric. Project was awarded in 2018 and is expected to be energized in phases starting in June 2021.
JINGOLI has brought their proven Outreach Program to Newark and PSE&G jobs and are making a difference in hiring local and diverse, disadvantaged, women and minority owned companies. This also includes hiring local Newark residents to support the local community and economy.
