The 150,000-square-foot municipal courthouse project consisted of a new four-story building with a partial basement. The completed structure utilized geopier masonry foundations, structural steel framing, and concrete slab-on-metal-deck construction, with an exterior envelope of curtain wall, storefront systems, etched precast masonry panels.
The facility includes courtrooms, judges’ chambers, municipal offices, a full kitchen, and a café. A connecting bridge was also constructed linking the MLK Justice Building to the adjacent County Hall of Records.
Site work included public and private utility tie-ins with enhanced security systems, as well as sidewalks, curbing, paving, signage, and striping. The project also features a public plaza and promenade with approximately 20,000 square feet of custom pavers on the north and west sides, along with a 17,000-square-foot granite grand stair and landings on the east side.
