HUDSON TRANSMISSION PROJECT CONVERTER STATION SITE PREPARATION
Location
Project Size
The Hudson Transmission Project, completed in 2013, is a 660 MW electric transmission link connecting New York City to the PJM grid. At the converter station, alternating current (AC) from the PJM grid is converted to direct current (DC) and then back to AC on-site through a process known as back-to-back conversion. This AC–DC–AC process enables the precise and reliable delivery of up to 660 MW of power to meet the needs of NYPA’s New York City customers.
JINGOLI provided site preparation services for the converter station, which included demolishing a 113,000-square-foot warehouse and associated site infrastructure, removing 40,000 cubic yards of environmentally sensitive material, performing dewatering and treatment, and importing 60,000 tons of clean fill.
