The development, scheduled for completion in 2020, will occupy 20 acres directly south of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge to Philadelphia.
Liberty Property Trust envisions a transformational mixed-use development that will attract significant corporations, employment, and substantial third-party investment. Liberty and Robert A.M. Stern Architects have created a master plan for the development, which comprises approximately 1.44 million square feet of office space and hotel and residential components. Liberty anticipates the office component of the development will consist of build-to-suit projects, developed for a fee, for corporations seeking to own their office buildings and to grow their businesses in this environment while taking advantage of the economic benefit offered through the Grow NJ program.
In addition to the $1 billion Liberty plan, the city reports that there is more than 1.5 billion in the new development funded, in progress, or recently completed. The waterfront boomed due to tax credits, luring a string of high-profile businesses to Camden recently like the Philadelphia 76ers and Subaru as examples. The Philadelphia 76ers constructed a new state-of-the-art practice facility, and Subaru consolidated their U.S. operations into one complex in Camden, NJ.
