The project consisted of the construction of a rifle and pistol range for NRC required training of nuclear power plant security personnel. Subsurface conditions required extensive geotechnical reinforcement involving layers of geotech fabric in building the berms. The berms are as high as 23 feet tall and were covered with mats to control erosion until grass was established. The range is 800 feet long and consists of a 40-foot tall firing tower, an automated, remote controlled target system, and night lighting to simulate varying conditions. The pistol range was constructed adjacent to, but separate from the rifle range.
