COMPLETION: March, 2011

SIZE: 930,000 Square Feet

PROJECT VALUE: $786 Million

This $786 million project consisted of expansion and renovation of the existing Pennsylvania Convention Center located in the heart of Center City, Philadelphia. The new 930,000 square foot expansion includes a dramatic 120-foot tall glass curtain wall entryway along Broad Street with full height atrium, 540,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit hall space, a new 55,000 square foot ballroom, meeting rooms, offices, new mechanical room and associated utility and support spaces.

Renovation of the existing convention center consisted of selective demolition and reconstruction of approximately 110,000 square feet of the original 1,350,000 square foot center and included relocation/modernization of the Fire Command/Security Center and a Police Substation.

The Convention Center expansion is a massive venture representing the largest single public works capital project in the history of Pennsylvania. The construction was completed on-budget and ahead of schedule. JJS was part of the joint venture that provided complete Construction and Project Management services. The design phase included scheduling, estimating and extensive value engineering. The bid phase included pre-qualifications and bidding of multiple contracts. Construction included major utility relocations and management of multiple prime contracts worth $490 million.
