The project consists of fast-tracked security upgrades required by the NRC at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Plant in Forked River, NJ.
Design/build of a new 6,400 square foot Security Access Building incorporating a blast resistant structural design with integral vehicle barrier walls, and a new sally port to the expanded Protected Area. Security systems incorporated into the design included microwave, infra-red, x-ray, radiation detection, explosive detection, CCTV cameras, locking turnstiles with access card readers, etc.
Design/build of a new Security Vehicle Checkpoint including new access roads, a parking lot, nine acres of tree clearing, all site improvements, 16,500 square yards of paved roadways, a new guardhouse, detention gates, active vehicle gates, CCTV cameras, lighting, etc.
Erection of 7 welded steel blast resistant guard towers. Specially designed foundations required over 50 4” diameter steel anchor rods up to 60 feet long grouted into the subsoil and tension tested.
