JJS, acting as a General Contractor, was responsible for construction of an off-site Central Utility Plant, along with the Phase 1 expansion, that will serve the expanding Casino Industry in Atlantic City, NJ. Chilled water, hot water and emergency power generated by the plant will be delivered to the casino customers for cooling, heating, domestic hot water and back up power generation.
The plant was designed to have the ultimate capacity of 25,000 tons of cooling, 350,000 lb/hr of high temperature hot water production, and 8 MW of emergency power generation. It will be capable of serving three casinos with the Borgata as the first casino which opened mid 2003 and started expansion in late 2005. The original plant construction was completed in mid 2003 and the expansion was completed in early 2006.
